Suspended Ceiling How To – Free Tips for DIY Suspended Ceilings

Suspended ceilings – what are they? They are drop down ceilings attached to the original ceiling by cables.

Usually the purpose of these ceilings is to cover up something on the existing ceiling: air vents, special cables or to make special protection of the room (acoustic protection) or give extra heating "power" to the house.

Today you can get ceiling tiles of practically any material and design – this gives huge freedom to the what you want from the ceilings and how you want them to look.

You understand that this variety of choice creates a problem to choose the one that you really need. As you understand, before staring the installation process, you already need to take the decision about what exactly you need and how you want it to be done – this will make sure you save money and time on getting what you want.

Also please do not forget that there are many health and safety regulations about depending; these requirements need to be followed. If you need the suspended ceilings for your person house – the requirements are less strict, for any public place – the list of things to comply with gets very big. But you have no other way out; you need to play by the rules. Your supplier is usually the one who is more aware about that things.

Fire resistance is another issue to take into account. You should simply ask the supplier about how exactly the ceilings and their tiles fit into fire regulations. This question will show to the supplier that you are not that fresh and green in these issues: yes, you do not start looking like an expert from just making one question, but it is hardly possible that after this question the supplier is going to cheat you ruthlessly – this is too dangerous, he or she cannot lie you or provide you with false information. Otherwise this person will have big problems with law.

One more issue – the sound – it is not critical, but you have an option to reduce sound level with the help of the suspended ceilings. The strategy is simple and is not different from the one quoted above. Ask the supplier or your contractor or your manufacturer about how this type of suspended ceiling tile is going to help you with sound level reducing. They will show you the options and how much it affects the general price.
